The Armistice Club was located in downtown Houston, Texas, on Texas Avenue. With owner Fred Skaggs and associate Herman Williams ran the club. In 1927 an injunction was leveled on the Armistice for gambling. Harassment continued throughout until 1935 when the club was raided and gambling equipment was seized. Fred Skaggs, probably tired of the petty gambling and raids, upped the ante and became one of Houston's premier policy racket bosses.
